This IOP covers the period from 18 June - 17 July 1997.
The directories are
- source : original datasets as delivered from ARM/LLNL/SUNY archives
- driving : source data processed for use in driving SCM
- observed : other miscellaneous observed variables, derived from source
data, for use in comparison with SCM output.
There are 2 versions of the data under each directory for this IOP, both
produced with variational analysis, processed by SUNY, Stonybrook. Contact:

In comparison with the first version, main changes for the second are as follow:
- inclusion of SIROS and ECOR data
- revised treatment of lower boundary condition
- hydrostaic rebalance in the variational adjustment
- constraint variables are no longer time averaged
- re-scaled sounding data used
- revised MWR data used
- additional diagnostic variables in the output file
- revised interpolation routines
